First photos of new royal baby emerge

<p>Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg is every bit the proud grandmother as she took to Instagram to share photos of the newest royal family member, Prince Balthasar Felix Karl. </p> <p>Prince Balthasar is the third child of Prince Felix and his wife Princess Claire, and the Grand Duchess' seventh grandchild. </p> <p>"What a great joy the arrival of Balthasar, our seventh grandchild, born on January 7 in Luxembourg," she captioned the series of photos. </p> <p>The Grand Duchess, 67, was pictured with a huge smile on her face as husband Grand Duke Henri, 68 cradled Prince Balthasar. </p> <p>In another photo, Prince Felix and Princess Claire are pictured with their older children Princess Amalia, 9, and Prince Liam, 7, with Prince Balthasar fast asleep in his mother's arms. </p> <p>The third photo shows Grand Duchess Maria and Princess Amalia posing on the hospital bed as the Grand Duchess cradles her grandson. </p> <p>The Grand Duchess ended the series of photos with two pictures of her grandkids holding their new baby brother.</p> <p>The birth of Prince Balthasar was announced on Monday in a statement which read: "The newborn Prince will be named Balthasar Felix Karl. He weighs 3.220 kg (7lbs 1 oz) and measures 50 cm.</p> <p>"Prince Balthasar and Princess Claire are in perfect health."</p> <p>The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess share five children – Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Prince Felix, Prince Louis, Princess Alexandra and Prince Sebastien.</p> <p><em>Images: Instagram</em></p>

“Overbearing idiots” fined for surfing through Venice’s Grand Canal

Another Neighbours alum to return for final episode

‘Unliftable’: Australia’s chunkiest angel makes her grand debut

<p dir="ltr">The “unliftable” staffie was rescued by the RSPCA in South Australia after a call was made to team inspectors, who said that Sophie had spiralled into a dark depression following the tragic deaths of her owners.</p> <p dir="ltr">Sitting at 400% above her ideal body weight under the care of a housemate who struggled to look after her, vet and rescue teams were gobsmacked at the size of her.</p> <p dir="ltr">RSPCA inspector Krista said they had never encountered a dog that big before.</p> <p dir="ltr">“When I first saw her I couldn’t believe it,” they said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“She was so big, I didn’t even know if she was able to walk.</p> <p dir="ltr">“There was no way I’d be able to lift her into the van.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Unable to walk, Sophie was put on an intense exercise program and eating plan.</p> <p dir="ltr">RSPCA SA’s puppy-fat burning expert Stuart said Sophie was by far the most overweight dog he had ever seen.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Sophie is definitely the biggest I’ve encountered, but I’m happy to help with her fitness journey,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I can’t wait to see her running around enjoying the happy, healthy lifestyle she deserves.”</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-9e088336-7fff-51d1-d4c0-90bd4cd8e017"></span></p> <p dir="ltr">Sophie is on her fitness journey and is sure to be looking healthy and happier everyday.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image: RSPCA</em></p>

Glimmer of hope: World reacts to Federer's sad news

Navratilova's amazing Ash Barty admission

<p><span>Ash Barty is still on cloud nine after taking out the Wimbledon championship last weekend at 25 years of age.</span></p> <p><span>The star may be known as scintillating and calculated on the court, but off the court – Barty is an entirely different person.</span><br /><br /><span>Now, in a startling interview on live TV, tennis legend Martina Navratilova has gone so far as to show an extra special level of love and admiration for the Aussie tennis champ by claiming she plans to name her first child after her.</span><br /><br /><span>Navratilova is a nine-time Wimbledon champion herself, and has closely watched Barty's games, including her victory over Karolina Pliskova at Wimbledon.</span><br /><img style="width: 500px; height: 281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7842476/ash-barty-2.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/1b9cf7fc9c2442e88ef092e52d50c3b9" /></p> <p><em>Image: Getty</em></p> <p><span>"If I had a kid, I would name her - or him - Ash! Great years, hopefully."</span><br /><br /><span>When Barty was asked by reporters what she thought of Navratilova’s kind words, the star couldn’t help but blush.</span><br /><br /><span>“Around the world you are respected as a humble, kind and very nice person," the journalist said.</span><br /><br /><span>"How important is it for you to be a very good human being along with top class tennis player?"</span><br /><br /><span>"I think I've just tried to live by my values that my parents instilled in me. I mean, it's more important to be a good person than it is a good tennis player," she said.</span><br /><br /><span>"Being able to learn from my parents and my siblings, my family, was a massive part of my upbringing.</span><br /><br /><span>"I think being a good human being is absolutely my priority every single day."</span><br /><br /><span>Barty went on to say that playing on the court has changed her dramatically.</span><br /><br /><span>"I think over the past fortnight, I've had massive, massive amounts of growth. Even the last fortnight I think I've grown as a person," she said.</span><br /><br /><span>"I've certainly been able to use my experience as a tennis player to get me through some tough matches this week.</span><br /><br /><span>"I felt like I was able to get better and better with each match and trust myself more and more each and every time I stood out on the court."</span></p>

Dylan Alcott to defend his Wimbledon title

Coronavirus RNA found on cruise ship 17 days after passengers abandoned liner

<p>Coronavirus RNA has been determined to have the ability to live for up to 17 days among surfaces after health authorities studies the <em>Diamond Princess</em> cruise ship.</p> <p>The disease can survive longer than research has previously shown, new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has shown to us on Monday in new data.</p> <p>The study sought out to show how the Japanese and U.S government’s efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreaks on the Carnival-owned <em>Diamond Princess</em> ship in Japan and the <em>Grand Princess</em> ship in California has been.</p> <p>RNA is the genetic material of the virus that causes COVID-19, and was “identified on a variety of surfaces in cabins of both symptomatic and asymptomatic infected passengers up to 17 days after cabins were vacated on the D<em>iamond Princess</em> but before disinfection procedures had been conducted,” the researchers wrote.</p> <p>The CDC added the genetic material of the virus that specifically causes COVID-19 revealed that there was no indication that the virus can “spread by surface”.</p> <p>They also added researchers were unable to  “determine whether transmission occurred from contaminated surfaces,” and that more studies focussing on whether COVID-19 can be spread through touching surfaces on cruise ships was warranted.</p> <p>“COVID-19 on cruise ships poses a risk for rapid spread of disease, causing outbreaks in a vulnerable population, and aggressive efforts are required to contain spread,” the data report read.</p> <p>The CDC has urged people to stay away from cruise ships at this time if they are part of the more vulnerable population.</p> <p>Researchers at the national Institutes of Health, CDC, UCLA and Princeton University previously found that COVID-19 can last up to three days on plastic and stainless steel.</p> <p>The study also determined the RNA of the virus decreases over time on plastic and stainless steel.</p> <p>The new study set out to understand just how “transmission occurred across multiple voyages of several ships.” It noted at least 25 cruise ship voyages had confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of March 17.</p> <p>All of these cases where either detected during or after the cruise trip ended.</p> <p>Almost half, 46.5%, of the infections aboard the <em>Diamond Princess</em> were asymptomatic when they were tested.</p> <p>The study revealed it partially explaining the “high attack rate” of the virus among passengers and crew.</p> <p>On February 4, all 3,700 passengers and crew of the <em>Diamond Princess</em> were quarantined at a Japanese port after a passenger had been diagnoses with COVID-19 after returning to Hong Kong.</p> <p>What resulted was the largest cluster of confirmed coronavirus cases outside of China at the time, with more than 800 passengers and crew eventually going on to become infected.</p> <p>Nine people died due to the outbreak after disembarking the ship. Research revealed that 712 of 3,711 people on the <em>Diamond Princess</em>, or 19.2% were infected by COVID-19.</p> <p>78 cases were also found on the <em>Grand Princess,</em> which was force to moor off the coast of California after two passengers tested positive when they disembarked the vessel.</p> <p>The 78 cases tied back to the ship across separate voyages. California officials allowed the ship to remove all passengers from the vessel at the Port of Oakland.</p> <p>The <em>Diamond Princess and Grand Princess</em> has accounted for more than 800 total COVID-19 cases, including 10 deaths.</p>

<p>Mumsnet is a forum where mothers gather together and voice their opinions on a range of topics, including what tourist destinations are “secretly underwhelming”.</p> <p>This topic spread like wildfire, and the answers will either have you agreeing or shaking your head in disapproval.</p> <p>In a thread titled “What famous landmark or must visit place/thing were you secretly underwhelmed by?”, Mumsnet user Midge1978 elaborates on her provocative question.</p> <p>“I went to Stonehenge this year and whilst I was trying to get in touch with my inner druid, trying to project historical importance and mystery onto the place, I just couldn’t escape the feeling that I was just looking at some very old stones and it was actually (whisper) a little bit boring!!” she said.</p> <p>“My husband thought it was all marvellous though so I have never told him!!!”</p> <p>Others were quick to voice their opinions, even knocking the Great Barrier Reef.</p> <p>“The Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef,” said one mum, declining to elaborate.</p> <p>Another mum seconded her, “Yes, Great Barrier Reef – sadly, and only because there is so much coral die back it is depressing. Genuinely disappointing as diving here was a long-held dream of mine.”</p> <p>Paintings were even on the list, with some mentioning <em>The Scream</em>.</p> <p>Midge agreed and shared her experience of seeing <em>The Mona Lisa</em>.</p> <p>“Oh gosh yes The Mona Lisa – queued for bloody ages to see a small dull painting that I had already seen emblazoned over every item in the gift shop!” she said.</p> <p>“The pyramids/sphinx,” said another mum. “I expected a mystical, magical place in the desert. I got … lots of beggars/sales people/McDonalds. Gutted.”</p> <p>Another mum agreed: “Yep Midge, sorry. I have a fabulous photo that everyone aaahs over of the sphinx with a pyramid behind it and a clear blue sky. When I look at it all I can think is “I was standing in front of McDonald’s when I took that …”</p> <p>However, some comments called out the lack of culture in Australia.</p> <p>“The whole of Australia frankly – no culture at all apart from the Aboriginal history,” someone wrote.</p> <p>“The Aborigines were treated like sh*t by the white Australians which disgusted me. Huge cruise ship squeezes through Greek canal with just centimetres to spare

<p><span>A 24,344-tonnes, 22.5-metre-wide cruise liner has made history to become the largest ship ever to travel through the narrow Corinth Canal.</span></p> <p><span>On Wednesday, 929 passengers on board held their breath as the Braemar cruise liner squeezed through the canal, which was 24 metres wide at its narrowest point.</span></p> <p><span>The ship was so close to the rocky walls of the canal that passengers could reach out their hands and almost touch the surface, UK-based Fred. Rafael Nadal breaks down after "emotional" US Open win

Tears rolled down his face as Nadal gracefully thanked the crowd.</p> <p>“It has to be one of the most emotional nights of my tennis career,” Nadal said. “This victory means a lot and especially with the way the match became so difficult, so tough ... it has been a crazy match, no? Jail time and $20,000 fine: Husband's grand airport gesture for his wife has landed him in hot water

<p>A man has been arrested at Singapore’s Changi Airport for saying goodbye to his wife near her gate before her flight.</p> <p>According to Singapore Police, the 27-year-old man was in possession of a boarding pass that allowed him to enter the airport’s transit area so he could farewell his wife, despite not having any intention of leaving the country.</p> <p>By law, anyone with a boarding pass who accesses the transit area past security should only be there if they intend to travel.</p> <p>“The Police would like to remind all passengers that the transit areas of Changi Airport are gazetted as Protected Places,” said Singapore Police on Facebook.</p> <p style="text-align: center;"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fsingaporepoliceforce%2Fposts%2F10158819545404408&amp;width=500" width="500" height="720" style="border: none; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"></iframe></p> <p>“Passengers who enter the transit areas with a boarding pass should only be there for the purpose of travelling to their next destinations. “I now have a metal hip”: Andy Murray undergoes major surgery

Roger Federer robbed of Wimbledon milestone

<p>Roger Federer has been denied the chance to win his 100th career title at Wimbledon next month after losing the Halle Open final in Germany overnight. </p> <p>Defending champion Federer was beaten 7-6 (8-6) 3-6 6-2 by Croatian Borna Coric at the grass court tournament.</p> <p>It was Coric’s first win out of three attempts over Federer, who was appearing in his 12th Halle final.</p> <p>The defeat ends Federer’s 20-match winning streak on grass since last year’s Wimbledon.</p> <p>It also means rival Rafael Nadal will regain his number one world ranking. </p> <p>The 2018 Wimbledon Championships begins on Monday, July 2.</p>
